Meet the Guitar Virtual Workshop | 2 PM

Is your guitar gathering dust in a closet? Looking for a place to start? Join us for an introduction to the guitar. Explore the history behind the instrument, discover how to best care for your guitar, learn chords and strumming patterns, and start your guitar journey!

Registration closes 30 minutes before the program starts. Instruction for this workshop will take place live on Zoom on March 13th. Zoom link and information packet will be emailed to you on the day of the program. We ask that you provide your own Guitar.

Explore your world with Discovery Live: Ask a _________! Tune in to hear from a variety of guest experts, ask questions, and discover science, history, and art happening in your own backyard!

On March 17th, join FCMoD and chat with folks from the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. How many different species of bird migrate through Colorado each spring? How many pounds can a great-horned owl carry? And why do we see so many “Canadian” geese in Fort Collins in the winter? Tune in to ask these questions, or one of your own!

Sound is all around us. We hear it every day but have you ever asked yourself just what is sound? Join us for an exploration into all things sound. Together we will discover the secrets sound holds.

Required Materials: Two tongue depressors, paper, scissors, tape, and rubber bands.

KaBoom! Zing! Clank. Screeeeech… Join FCMoD as we explore Foley Art – the art of adding sound to post-production cinema. Learn about the history of sound in film, and discover what tools are used to create the pew pew of laser blasters, the clip-clop of horse hooves, and the simple background noise of everyday life. Get ready to explore how a variety of sounds are made by Foley Artists and learn how to build your very own sound-creation tool kit!

Hushhhh, be quiet and listen. Join us for the Sound Ecology Workshop to discover how sound is used to explore our world and gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between humans and nature. Together we will explore what a Sound Ecologist does, the tools they use to study sound, and the tales those sounds tell!

Required Materials: Pencil, Printed Worksheet (emailed to provided email), a good set of ears!

Registration closes on Friday, April 23 at 5:00pm. Instruction for this workshop will take place live on Zoom on Saturday, April 24 at 10:00am. Zoom link and information packet will be emailed to you on the day of the program.
