Virtual Playtime Pals: Astronauts

3, 2, 1… lift off! Get ready for some fun that’s out of this world as we use our imaginations to travel to space.

For Show & Share: Show us an item that you would take with you to space. Have this item ready to go at the start of Playtime Pals so that you can show it off to your friends!

Join FCMoD for a special new Early Childhood program… Playtime Pals! Through Show & Share, Imagination Time, and a Dance Party, your child will socialize and have fun with other children in a safe and welcoming virtual environment. Each week has a different theme for maximum fun!

Registration closes 30 minutes prior to the program’s start time. Capacity is limited, and registration is first come, first serve.

Please note: that an adult caregiver must be with the participating child for the duration of the program.

Dino Dig Virtual Workshop

Become a Paleontologist on the quest to uncover the next ancient monster! Travel back in time and learn about the awesome adaptations of dinosaurs big and small. Then practice your own excavation skills and interpret a fossil for yourself. Can you dig it?

Martian Terrarium Virtual Workshop

Are you curious about the stars? Do you wonder if there could be life Mars? How do NASA scientists plan to search for life, and how will they bring humans to Mars to live and work? If you’re curious about these questions, and more, join us to learn about the new field of astrobiology while you make your own plant (planet) terrarium from home.

Virtual Mini Makers: To The Moon!

Imagine, invent, problem solve, and more during Mini Makers: To the Moon! In this program, children will engage in design thinking as they learn about recycling and reusing through story time and hands-on building. Once complete, each little engineer will have their very own up-cycled creation!

Registration closes July 21. Instruction for this program will take place live on Zoom on July 23. All materials and supplies will be available by delivery or pickup before the program.

Mini Makers programs require some basic tools, and craft supplies, in addition to the program materials provided. We recommend that you have scissors, tape, glue, crayons, markers, pencils, and washable paint for your child’s use during the program. You may purchase a Craft Kit with all of these items directly from the Museum by adding “Craft Kit” to your order. The Craft Kit will be delivered or available for pick-up alongside your Mini Makers program materials.

In this Discovery Lab, your family will learn about and experiment with the four forces of flight. Then, you’ll work together to engineer a paper glider of your own design. Simply said, it’ll be plane awesome!

Pandemic Preparedness Virtual Workshop

Calling all junior epidemiologists! Scientists are learning more every day to help us all stay safe and healthy during COVID-19. In this workshop, you can find out how they do it! Model virus experiments to see for yourself how viruses can spread. Then, design a Community Safety Plan to help you and your family fight the spread of COVID-19. Finally, build your very own pandemic preparedness toolkit with all the resources you need for ultimate virus vanquishing.
