The Archive at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is a place to connect with the history of Northern Colorado through photographs, books, maps, oral histories, and much more. No appointment is necessary to visit, but if you have particular questions or would like to speak to the curator, please contact the Archive staff prior to your visit so we can better assist you.
Research Room
The Archive features a large, comfortable public research room furnished with lockers, computers, a microfilm reader, and a photocopier. The Archive is open to the public, and people of all ages are welcome to visit. Archive staff and volunteers enjoy assisting with specific research questions, but if you’re simply curious about local history, the Archive is the place for you!
Archive resources include:
- Thousands of historic photographs, slides, and negatives
- Historic maps of Fort Collins, Larimer County, and Colorado
- Reference books, including city directories, telephone books, and yearbooks
- Oral history transcripts and recordings of local residents
- Vertical files on local topics, businesses, places, and families
- Newspaper microfilm dating from 1873 to current
- Scrapbooks, ephemera, diaries, and many other special collections
