Día de Muertos Celebration
¡Te invitamos a celebrar el Día de Muertos con el Museo del Descubrimiento de Fort Collins!
El Día de Muertos es una celebración proveniente de México y Latinoamérica, en donde las familias y seres queridos se unen para celebrar la memoria de sus difuntos, a quienes se les invita a regresar al mundo de los vivos para recordar, convivir y celebrar junto con el ofrecimiento de altares meticulosamente elaborados. Las raíces de esta celebración son una fusión de tradiciones Mesoamericanas, particularmente del antiguo imperio azteca, así como de España, y se lleva a cabo desde el 31 de octubre hasta el 2 de noviembre de cada año.
Acompáñanos en este evento especial compartiendo tu propio altar miniatura con la comunidad para exhibirlo en el museo desde el 20 de octubre hasta el 7 de noviembre.

In celebration of Día de Muertos, FCMoD is excited to welcome back mini altars created and shared by members of the Fort Collins community, in honor of those who are no longer with us.
Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a celebration from Mexico and Latin America when families gather to honor the memory of deceased loved ones on November 1 and 2. Spirits are guided home to enjoy offerings left for them on meticulously crafted altars. This day’s roots are a fusion of traditions found in Mesoamerica, particularly the ancient Aztec empire, and Spain.
You are invited to join us in celebrating Día de Muertos by sharing a Mini Altar for display at Fort Collins Museum of Discovery from October 20 – November 7!

Wellness Walk
Join Volunteer Naturalists for a short and slow walk along the Poudre. Discover ways to incorporate mindfulness and daily time in nature.
Presented by Fort Collins Natural Areas Department. Up to 1 mile; easy. Location: Fort Collins Museum of Discovery.
Meet at the Museum entrance. Masks will be optional for all vaccinated participants and volunteers. We kindly request that unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals wear a mask while indoors or when within 6 feet of anyone not in their household group, including the volunteers. Waivers will be required to be signed either online or in person upon arrival.
