Community Conversations

As a part of The High Park Fire: A Community Responds project, FCMoD hosted a series of five public forums, each focusing on a different aspect of the fire and its aftermath. Each forum was open to the public, free of charge, and featured different panels of experts with opportunities for discussions and questions and answers. The forums have also been aired on Fort Collins City Cable 14.

Fighting the High Park Fire

Firefighters talk about how a wildland fire is fought, and talk about their experiences with the High Park Fire. Additionally, speakers will offer their perspectives on how future fires might be managed.

Where we live, the style of the house, the furnishings and mementos all tie into who we are. But homes in fire-prone landscapes are especially vulnerable to wildland fire. Recovery

Resource Fair

As a culmination of the High Park Fire forum series, the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery will hold a resource fair in conjunction with the opening of the High Park Fire Exhibit. Participants include Emergency Response personnel, a representative from the State Insurance Commissioner’s Office, and fire mitigation specialists. This is a chance for you to talk with a wide variety of experts about policy, specific issues, and current trends. There will also be an opportunity to register for Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) training, to register for emergency notifications, and to explore volunteer opportunities.
