President declares major disaster for Colorado

FEMA announces that federal disaster assistance has been made available to Colorado to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the High Park Fire. Now 100% contained, the extent of the High Park Fire is officially tallied at 87,284 acres. The fire burned 259 structures and cost one life, making it the third most destructive wildfire in Colorado history. The cost of fighting the fire is estimated at $38.4 million, with high costs still to come as recovery and mitigation efforts begin.
