2017 Summer Adventures at FCMoD!

Courtyard Programs – Held at the Historic Heritage Courtyard, 200 Mathews Street

Note: FCMoD has a limited number of costumes available for use during our historic camps

Learn reading, ‘riting, ‘rithmatic, and recitation the way it was taught in the old days! Take a step back in time and experience what a student’s life and school day were like in a 20th century schoolhouse. A period-appropriate teacher leads students through a traditional curriculum including academics, citizenship, music, crafts and games. The week culminates in a recital for family and friends, featuring ice cream made by the students!

Student ages: 6 – 11 years old
Tuition: $120 per child

Lasso yourself a great time panning for gold, marching like a soldier, and cooking over an open fire – just some of the activities the diverse people who lived along the Front Range in the 19th century did for a living. Buckaroos and cowgirls can dress up for a wild time exploring the west!

Student ages: 6 – 8 years old
Tuition: $140 per child

Would you have been a successful homesteader in Colorado? Explore the daily lives of early settlers – and what life was like on the wagon trail – while learning about the Homestead Act of 1862 that brought so many pioneers west for a life on the range! Experience early pioneer activities, such as making homemade butter and a natural herbal bug spray. Costumes encouraged!

Student ages: 9 – 11 years old

Summer Programs – Held at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, 408 Mason Court

What walks on the land? What flies in the air? What swims in the water? There are animals everywhere! Explore the wonderful world of animals and learn all about different kinds of animals and how they live. Have fun with lots of animal crafts, meet some real animals up close, and go outdoors to see animals in nature. Take a walk on the wild side!

Student ages: 3 5 years old

*NOTE: Students must have experience with pre-K classroom routines and structure. This is a student-only class, so students must be capable to be away from parents for 3.5 hours.

Tuition: $140 per child

Anyone can do science – and we can prove it! Fun-filled, hands-on activities will have you performing awesome experiments, watching amazing demonstrations, and learning how to be a real scientist. Find out how spectacular scientific discoveries are made – and make some discoveries of your own!

Student ages: 6 – 8 years old

Take your science knowledge to next level! Seek out the deeper mysteries of how the world works while discovering how science helps us understand everything from the tiniest particle to the vastness of space. Use the scientific method and think like a scientist to challenge the questions of today and the future! What kind of scientist will you be?

Student ages: 9 – 11 years old

Calling all rocket scientists, astronauts, and space explorers! Discover what it takes to reach for the stars in Space Camp. Fly through the cosmos in our OtterBox Digital Dome Theater and launch your own mission of space exploration. Who knows what you’ll discover?

Student ages: 6 – 8 years old
Tuition: $140 per child

Someday, you might be one of the first explorers to walk on Mars! What will it take to get there? Come learn about all the things we’ll need to get to Mars:  rockets, space travel, building a space colony, and living on an alien planet. Are you up for the challenge? 3…2…1…blast off!

Student ages: 9 – 11 years old
Tuition: $140 per child

Dig, discover, and develop the skill of telling stories through fossils. Become a dino expert as you explore the life of dinosaurs and what it’s like to be a Paleontologist! Dinosaurs…can you dig it?

Student ages: 6 – 8 years old

Survey, excavate, and curate! Brave the outdoor elements to become an archeologist, and piece together mysteries of the past with the artifacts you discover. Its up to you to find and preserve the information and artifacts before they’re lost forever!

Student ages: 9 – 11 years old

Rock out at FCMoD…no matter what your skill level is! From jamming on real instruments to discovering new music technology, you’ll be sure to find your inner rock star. Get amped up!

Tell your own story through immersive panoramic photography in FCMoD’s OtterBox Digital Dome Theater! Discover what makes the 360° space of the dome different, how dome technology and storytelling works, and how to create immersive panoramic photographs for the dome. The finale of the workshop will be a showing of student work in the dome for family and friends!

Student ages: 11 15 years old

Tuition: $200 per child

Become a virtual reality storyteller in FCMoDs OtterBox Digital Dome Theater! Explore what makes storytelling in 360° different than any other format and go hands-on with cutting edge cameras and other tools to create immersive, live-action 360° video projects that can be experienced in the digital dome and in VR. At the end of the week youll screen your unique 360° productions in a very special show for family and friends!

Student ages: 11 15 years old

Tuition: $200 per child

Get ready – the zombies are coming, and we need you to defeat the outbreak! Will you become the epidemiologist who investigates the outbreak, the emergency specialist who prepares the team to fight against it, or the scientist who discovers the cure? This outbreak will take you on an adventure into the science lab and battlefield, and can only be stopped with your help – can you save us?

Student ages: 11 15 years old
